My name is Debbie Courduff I was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I am married to a very loving husband who is constantly supportive. I'm also the mother of five children, Cathy Ann is my oldest who is a teacher at a school in Pennsylvania. My eldest son Charles is stationed at Fort Campbell Kentucky. My younger children Amy, Beth, and Kevin all currently live at home. In 1992 my husband and I moved our family to Virginia to a small town in the Shenandoah Valley where we have lived ever since. I work as a full time nurse, and in the evenings and on my days off I enjoy sewing.
I started sewing when I was six years old. My grandmother first taught me by sewing handkerchiefs. In the 3rd grade I was in a sewing class and we made all sorts of things like aprons for cooking. I bought my first sewing machine when I was eighteen and I have been sewing ever since.
When my children were small I used to sew them clothes, and quilts, as well as their Halloween costumes and the occasional costume for a school project. I always mad the girls and I matching dresses for holidays. My children were not built like average children, and they were often either to short or to thin for their clothing, so I often made alterations to their cloths. I started sewing for other people just for fun and a little extra money ,and I have done share of mending. I very much enjoy fixing things and working on projects.
When we bought our current house it came with a three room building and when it became vacant I decided to put my sewing stuff in it and start a business. There are not a lot of people who sew anymore so I thought it would be a good idea. There also isn't any places in my area that do sewing and alterations so someone always have some work to be done.
